These games are played with loops of string with a series of intricate finger maneuvers quickly changed the patterns created. The local name for string figures is 'gangue' or "the road you didn't expect to take." In the islands, the string used is made from a species of hibiscus. The string figures have been part of the Island's cultural heritage since pre-contact.
