Part of a major inter-institutional program of study of the southern oceans, specifically a study of the geology of the mid atlantic ridge near 35 degrees south using high resolution seabeam to collect data which contain information about how individual structural volcanic and sedimentologic terrain elements integrate along and across strike to produce the morphotectonic fabric of the sea floor.
