Description

This dataset was collected by Nitya Yerabandi during her undergraduate studies at UC San Diego. Under the guidance of Dr. Lotus McDougal and Dr. Rebecka Lundgren from the Center on Gender Equity and Health, Nitya conducted a literature review of 23 peer-reviewed and grey literature sources assessing the intersectionality of the #MeToo movement in India. Using thematic analysis, the characteristics of populations represented and excluded in #MeToo were identified. Literature was also reviewed for barriers to participation in this digital movement.

The data file contains two sheets. The first sheet, labeled “Data Extraction,” lists the 53 sources subject to full text review. This sheet includes the include/exclude decisions for each source and the reasons for exclusion based on the eligibility criteria detailed in the article. From each of the 23 included sources, the type of study, authorship information, social media campaigns discussed, characteristics of represented vs. excluded populations in #MeToo, reasons for exclusion from #MeToo, and/or information about the List of Sexual Harassers in Academia (LoSHA) were extracted and formatted as short quotes and longer excerpts. The second sheet, labeled “Data Analysis,” categorizes the information from the “Data Extraction” tab into different variables, which are further grouped into the following four categories: Represented Identities in #MeToo, Excluded Identities in #MeToo, Reasons for Exclusion from #MeToo, and LoSHA. The data in this sheet was also formatted as short quotes and longer excerpts. The data dictionary defines and describes each variable name.
