Description

Simulated Argo float trajectories, with advection using velocities from the Estimating the Circulation and Climate of the Ocean, Phase II (ECCO2) project.

Scope And Content

The files represent 108 sets of simulated Argo float releases on a global 0.5 degree by 0.5 degree resolution grid, corresponding to one float release every 30 days from January 2005 through October 2014. Data are contained in two netcdf files:

The component, "Particle locations", contains locations (px, py).

The component, "Particle velocities", contains velocity (pu, pv) and time (pt).

Values are reported at four specific times during the float cycle (A, B, C, D), with A corresponding to the particle release time, B the time when the particle reaches the parking depth, C the time when the particle leaves the parking depth to descend to 2000 m, and D the time that float reaches the ocean surface.
