Lola Romanucci-Ross, cultural anthropologist and professor in both UC San Diego's Department of Anthropology and the School of Medicine's Department of Family and Preventative Medicine, authored and co-authored a number of works on medical, social, and cultural anthropology, with fieldwork in Melanesia (Manus), rural Mexico, and her mother's home town, Ascoli Piceno, Italy. She was a long-time friend and collaborator of Margaret Mead, having done fieldwork with her in Manus, and later worked with her then-husband Theodore Schwartz on a team of social science researchers under the guidance of Erich Fromm in Chiconcuac, Morales, Mexico. Include audiocassettes and reel-to-reel audio tapes of lectures, talks and interviews with experts in the field, as well as interviews and recordings conducted in Mexico, Italy, and Papua New Guinea.
The recordings were digitized through support by a Recordings at Risk grant from the Council on Library and Information Resources (CLIR). The grant program is made possible by funding from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. - Creation Date
