- Description
-
Translator and missionary Eunice Loeweke and her colleague, Jean May, created sound recordings and film during their time in the Southern Highlands Province of Papua New Guinea. They were affiliated with the Wycliffe Bible Translators and the Summer Institute of Linguistics. Reel-to-reel and audiocassette recordings of Fasu language and music were recorded primarily during the 1960s. Films taken from approximately 1969-1979 include the Fasu people, literacy classes, a print shop, Sing-Sings, and the villages of Kaipu, Simbine, and Ukarumpa.
The recordings were digitized through support by a Recordings at Risk grant from the Council on Library and Information Resources (CLIR). The grant program is made possible by funding from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. - Creation Date
