See items purchased through this endowment The Milner B. Schaefer Memorial Fund honors the life and work of Milner B. Schaefer, a pioneering fisheries biologist. After earning his doctorate in fisheries science from the University of Washington, Schaefer became Director of Investigations at the Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission, which established its first headquarters at Scripps Institution of Oceanography. Earnings from this fund are used to purchase books for the Scripps Institution of Oceanography Library, continuing Schaefer’s legacy of advancing marine and fisheries research.
