Summary

Victor Díaz-Cardiel was born in 1935 in Fuensalida, Toledo. Victor recounts that his father was a member of the Republican Assault Guard during the Civil War and was held prisoner from 1939 to 1945. He describes being a key member of the Communist Party of Spain in Madrid, and tells of his underground political activities. Victor explains that he was imprisoned three times as a result of his militancy. He was incarcerated in Carabanchel, Soria, and Segovia between April 1965 and July 1972. He participated in two important hunger strikes while in prison. Victor relates that after his release, he was again detained and imprisoned briefly on two occasions before the Proceso 1001 and Franco's death
