Established on February 22, 1976, the Office of Contract and Grant Administration (OCGA) is headed by the Assistant Vice Chancellor, Contracts and Grants and is supervised by a Senior Director. The office assists the general campus and health sciences communities to obtain and successfully accomplish sponsored research, instruction, and public service programs. The OCGA is responsible for the supervision of sponsored research as well as collaborations from government, for-profit industry, non-profit industry, and UC sponsors.
The specific functions of the OCGA include proposal preparation and analysis, negotiation and liaison, award acceptance and execution, post-award administration, contract and grant policy formulation and administration, service to principle investigators and departments, document control, and maintaining information and reporting.

The files primarily consist of final reports, but also include abstracts, annual reports, progress reports, and correspondence. Whenever possible, the names of the principal investigators are included in parentheses after the project titles.
