UC San Diego Library is pleased to welcome Claire Ping, the 2025 WongAvery Visiting Scholar from the University of Cambridge.
Claire, a PhD candidate in Asian and Middle Eastern Studies, is spending the next few weeks at UC San Diego Library exploring our Chinese Collection as part of the WongAvery Visiting Scholar Exchange program.
Claire’s research examines representations of men and masculinities in post-industrial Northeast China. While at UC San Diego, Claire will focus on cinematic portrayals of working-class and marginalized men in Chinese Independent Films.
This exchange program is generously supported by the Avery-Tsui Foundation, and is a collaboration between UC San Diego Library, Cambridge University Library, and Trinity Hall Cambridge.
