Access to New E-Resources: October 2024

The Library is excited to announce that we have recently acquired several electronic resources spanning multiple disciplines. These are available to the entire UC San Diego community either on campus or remotely via the VPN. For questions about these resources, contact us.

ClinicalKey

This valuable resource gives you access to quick answers at the point of care alongside trusted, comprehensive medical evidence. Highlights of the collection include:

  • 850+ current Journals
  • ~1800 clinical overviews (point-of-care clinical monographs)
  • ~2560 drug monographs (from Gold Standard)
  • Patient Education Resources (customizable patient education handouts available in multiple languages)

Fire Insurance Maps online (FIMo)

A digital collection of historical color fire insurance maps, real estate atlases, plat books, and similar land use maps for North America. The maps show building structures, building construction details, property ownership, property uses, and other useful information. Maps include publications by Sanborn, Perris, Hexamer, Whipple, Baist, Bromley, Hopkins and others. Coverage is only for California, and dates of coverage are from the 1880’s-1960’s.

Gallup Analytics

Explore leading economic indicators and social and wellbeing data collected since 2005 in more than 160 countries and areas. Gallup Analytics provides topline access to data from the Gallup World Poll, the Gallup US Daily Tracking, and the historical data from the Gallup Poll Social Series (GPSS).

One user can access the portal at any given time. Does not include respondent data for World Poll; contact Annelise Sklar for assistance in requesting respondent data for Gallup Poll Social Series (GPSS).

Nature Journals (Springer Nature)

With Nature journals among our most frequently requested new subscriptions, we were very pleased to add five new journals this year:

Spatial Hazard Events and Losses Database for the United States (SHELDUS)

A county-level hazard data set for the U.S. that covers natural hazards such thunderstorms, hurricanes, floods, wildfires, and tornados as well as perils such as flash floods, heavy rainfall, etc. The database contains information on the date of an event, affected location (county and state) and the direct losses caused by the event (property and crop losses, injuries, and fatalities) from 1960 to present.
