Loyd Dill (left) was one of two captains of D/V Glomar Challenger (ship) during the Deep Sea Drilling Program project. He is in his quarters with Art Arroyo and his ham radio equipment. Dill used his ham radio as a hobby and also for morale purposes, enabling Global Marine Inc. personnel (operators of the ship) and the scientific members of the Deep Sea Drilling project aboard the ship to call home whenever they desired. 1978.
