Fossilized Skeletons from the Deep Sea - Middle Eocene (45 million year old) Radiolaria (course-meshed objects), Foraminifera and sponge spicules from the western Indian Ocean are shown here. Photographed through the Scripps Institution of Oceanography's scanning electron microscope with a magnification of 200X, these microscopic fossils, remains of deep-sea organisms, came from a Deep Sea Drilling Project core taken at site 237, Leg 24 in the Indian Ocean.
