Dalian, 1997. Ma Hong is a young musician. Liu Jiaying is a rich businessman's girlfriend. While the businessman is away, the two fall in love. Things get complicated when they spend some time together. Ma Hongs childhood girlfriend, Duan Ai comes to the city. The 1920 s. Ma Hong's mother falls in love with a soldier in the Red Army, even though she is married. When the soldier goes back to his home town, she decides to stay with her husband. Return to the present. Although Duan Al is interested in Ma Hong, she marries another man. Liu Jiaying decides not to abandon the businessman because she cannot manage to give up an exciting life
