Scope And Content

Recordings were made of tones matched in intensity, vowel and fundamental frequency produced by a professional baritone with a prominent singing formant" and an untrained male who displayed a relatively lower concentration of energy in the area of the "singing formant" (around 3 kHz). An experimental tape was constructed, consisting of the original samples plus samples in which partials in the area of the "singing formant" and/or 4 kHz and above were attenuated by filters"--Abstract
