Cement house construction 1 of 2

A few houses of more permanent materials, concrete and galvanized iron, have been introduced to Mewun villages. These homes may be equipped with kerosene refrigerators and water-catching tanks. Because houses are symbols of membership, migrant families continue to express their ties to Mewun through unoccupied homes that hold their place in rural villages or homes where their relatives reside.
