- Description
-
The photograph is of a statue in courtyard of the Li Xianting Film Fund Archive dedicated to the memory of Yu Luoke who was a young worker who was executed in 1970 in front of 100,000 people at the Workers Stadium in Beijing for self- publishing a "counter revolutionary" article challenging the Maoist theory of "inherited class identity". By the late 1970's, he became a symbol of the plight of many intellectuals during the Cultural Revolution and was eventually found innocent and rehabilitated.
