James Ronald Stewart hunting in the mountains

Stewart was the first diving officer at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, and one of the first scuba divers on the California coast. He also helped develop the first scuba diver training program for ocean scientists, which included such innovations as ditch-and-don, buddy breathing, and the buddy system.
