Conrad Limbaugh (1924-1960) was named "Marine Diving Specialist" by Scripps Institution of Oceanography Director Roger Revelle, and so became the first diving officer at the institution. A scientist in his own right, he co-authored several scientific papers but he became more widely known for his articles on undersea life published in popular magazines. He also worked under contract for the U.S. Navy, and was a diving consultant which led him to projects outside of the auspices of the institution. December 1950.
