Data from: Technical Note: Stability of tris pH buffer in artificial seawater stored in bags. UC San Diego Library Digital Collections. https://doi.org/10.6075/J0QC022G File Format: All data is held in comma delimited text files. File Organization: “Data Table.csv” holds all experimental data. “Data Dictionary.csv” contains a description of the data, in a table format. Method: Tris from four separately prepared batches was stored in two bag types either in a lab or submerged in seawater. In addition, one batch was stored in borosilicate bottles in the lab. The pH of the stored tris was measured every 55 ± 20 days for up to 300 days. Dissolved inorganic carbon measurements were also made on one of the batches of tris. Additional information, such as reagent lot number, can be found in the methods section of Wolfe et al. (2021). Description in data in table in addition to the data dictionary: Name of variables in table Date Batch_&_Storage_Method pH_# AHI_# Aiso_# AI_# Azero_# CT_# Description of variables in table: Date - The date measurements were made. Batch_&_Storage_Method - A unique identifier for each container of tris measured over time. In the format of "Batch #, Bag/Bottle #, Lab/Tank". In all following variables the “_#” endings are used to identify duplicate measurements (1-6 for pH, and 1-3 for CT). When measurements are not present, they are represented with a “NaN” The pH measurements were made using a system described in Carter et al. (2013). AHI, Aiso, AI, Azero are all absorbance measurements used to calculate pH. pH_# - The measured pH of tris at 20 °C, after all data processing described in the manuscript. AHI_# - Absorbance at 434 nm wavelength. Aiso_# - Absorbance at 487 nm wavelength. AI_# - Absorbance at 578 nm wavelength. Azero_# - Absorbance at 730 nm wavelength. Calculated as an average absorbance between 725 and 735 nm wavelengths. The dissolved inorganic carbon measurements were made using an infrared analyzer (LI-COR 7000) similar to a system used by O'Sullivan and Millero (1998). CT_# - Dissolved inorganic carbon in units of micro moles per kilogram (umol/kg).
