================================================================================ Satellite\TerraSAR-X\readme_TerraSAR-X.txt TerraSAR-X Data Description Roland Romeiser - rromeiser@miami.edu - 2020-2021 ### Satellite\TerraSAR-X\Images\ ### This folder contains quicklook (low quality) versions of three SAR images of the test area acquired by the two TerraSAR-X satellites in September - October 2017. The images are provided as PNG files embedded in KMZ files, so they can be viewed in Google Earth. Alternatively, the PNG files can be extracted by opening the KMZ files in 7-Zip or a similar software tool. The quicklook images should be used for orientation only. Any use of the SAR images for quantitative analysis or for figures in publications or presentations should be based on the full-resolution data, which are provided at about 3 m (<1 m) resolution, while the data you see here have been reduced to about 34 m (8 m), where the numbers in parantheses are for the case of the Staring Spot- light Mode image 20170929T141642_TDX1. The full-resolution data will also include detailed information on incidence angles, calibration constants, etc. The TerraSAR-X images for this project were downlinked and processed by CSTARS under Airbus Defence and Space license. The internal wave shapes are provided as sets of shapefiles in ArcGIS shapefile format. These files can be opened in ArcGIS as well as Google Earth. Archive structure: The archive IntWaves_CSTARS.tar.gz contains the shapefile set in a folder named 20170907T141636_TSX1_IntWaves_CSTARS, where the date and time are the start time of the SAR image acquisition. The wind fields are provided as NetCDF files containing 10 m equivalent neutral winds on a 1000 m × 1000 m grid. They were derived from the SAR images using an algorithm developed at CSTARS. Higher resolution winds are available on request. Archive structure: The archive Winds_CSTARS.tar.gz contains the actual NetCDF files; Winds_CSTARS_Preview.tar.gz contains corresponding KMZ files for a quick visualization of the wind fields in Google Earth. The file name format is YYYYMMDDTHHMMSS_$$$$_Winds_CSTARS.nc / YYYYMMDDTHHMMSS_$$$$_Winds_CSTARS.kmz, where dates and times are start times of the SAR image acquisitions and $$$$ is an identifier of the satellite that acquired the SAR image (TSX1 or TDX1).
