Original manuscript contract dated March 29, 1789 at Queretaro, Mexico for the sale of an 18-year-old mulatto slave named Joseph Toribio. In a later manuscript note dated 1805 the owner frees the slave who at that time would have been 34 years old. Folio, stitched. Document has at some point been folded in half for filing
P. [12] reads: "Queretaro, año de 1789. Venta de esclavo nombrado Joseph Thoribio que en virtud de poder del legitimo dueño. Otorgo Baxo el precio y condiciones que dentro se expresan. Otorgo Don Joseph Antonio Padilla vecino de la Jurisdicion de Nuestra Señora de San Juan de los Lagos."
