BASALT-CUTTING DRILL BIT-Deep Sea Drilling Project Engineers have found the four roller cone insert bit to be the best when drilling in basalt. Above, a new bit has been installed by the drilling crew and the drill string is ready to be run to the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean on Leg 37 of DSDP.
