This picture was taken during the Hutchins' first attempt to build a house in Tukwaukwa village. Mowaroka was the foreman on the job. Before the house was completed, the ownership of the land on which it was being built came under dispute. The Hutchins' had to abandon the site and move out of the village for several weeks. Later they secured permission to build on a site that was not disputed.
