"Oyster Jack," beds, Tomales Bay Oyster Co., California, 1950's. An "Oyster Jack." He knew Jack London, a former oyster pirate in San Francisco Bay. The eastern oyster, Crassostrea virginica was first imported into San Francisco Bay as a splat. Later beds were established in Tomales Bay. This Oyster Jack tended beds for the Tomales Bay Oyster Co. on the north side of the bay. Stakes fenced the beds to keep out rays. Inverness ridge in background.
