During an inspection prior to the departure from Guam on Leg 61 of the Deep Sea Drilling Project, a crack was discovered on the main propeller shaft of the D/V Glomar Challenger (ship). The shaft was grounded out and was replaced during the ships next scheduled maintenance dry dock session. 1978.
