Norman J. Holter was a biophysicist, noted for inventing the "Holter monitor", a portable device for continuously monitoring the electrical activity of the heart for 24 hours or more. But in his diverse career he also worked on the Capricorn Expedition (1952-1953) as seen here doing some field work. He would later come to Scripps Institution of Oceanography coordinating activities at the Institute of Geophysics and Planetary Physics (IGPP). 1952.
