- Description
-
The f-actin staining in the lamella of a cultured fibroblast shows common features of adherent cells on a flat substrate. The dominant f-actin organization is in the form of stress fibers, linear bundles of actin filaments ending at cell adhesions to the substrate. In the upper left, actin can be seen modeling the highly dynamic leading edge. There are three patches of ruffles behind the leading edge.

Prepared slide purchased from Molecular Probes imaged with a 60X N.A. 1.4 phase 3 lens on an Olympus IX 70 microscope with a 100W Hg arc lamp for illumination, narrow pass filter blocks for widefield fluorescence microscopy, and a 1.5X relay lens in front of a Cooke Sensicam HQ air cooled CCD camera. Imaged at the Analytical Imaging Facility of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
