In 1962 Applied Oceanography Group (AOG) at Scripps Institution of Oceanography leased this DC-3 airplane ("N28C" identifying numbers shown on the side of plane in this photo). Later the plane would be given to them for continued research; AOG then mounted a infrared radiometer to measure heat flow from the ocean in the plane.
