The chromosomes are compacted into one large heterochromatic body. Remnants of the mitotic division spindle remain inside the intact nuclear envelope. Nuclear envelopes remain intact in ciliates during division in both the micronucleus and macronucleus. Mitochondrion, peroxisome, dictyosomes of Golgi complex, and rough endoplasmic reticulum are evident. TEM taken on 5\/19\/69 by R. Allen with Philips 300 operating at 60kV. Neg. 14,800X. The raw film was scanned with a Nikon Coolscan 9000ED.\n\nStandard glutaraldehyde fixation followed by osmium tetroxide, dehydrated in alcohol and embedded in an epoxy resin. Microtome sections prepared at approximately 75nm thickness.\n\nAdditional information available at (http:\/\/www5.pbrc.hawaii.edu\/allen\/)."},"ITEMTYPE":[{"onto_name":"transmission electron microscopy (TEM)","onto_id":"FBbi:00000258"},{"onto_name":"illumination by electrons","onto_id":"FBbi:00000273"}],"CELLULARCOMPONENT":[{"onto_name":"micronucleus","onto_id":"GO:0031040"},{"onto_name":"nuclear heterochromatin","onto_id":"GO:0005720"},{"onto_name":"condensed nuclear chromosome","onto_id":"GO:0000794"},{"onto_name":"nuclear envelope","onto_id":"GO:0005635"},{"onto_name":"spindle microtubule","onto_id":"GO:0005876"}],"RELATIONTOINTACTCELL":{"onto_name":"microtome-sectioned tissue","onto_id":"FBbi:00000029"},"SOURCEOFCONTRAST":{"onto_name":"stain with broad specificity","onto_id":"FBbi:00000415"},"GROUP_ID":"4735","DATAQUALIFICATION":{"free_text":"RAW;spatialmeasurements;intensitiesquantitation"},"TERMSANDCONDITIONS":{"free_text":"public_domain"},"IMAGINGMODE":[{"onto_name":"detection of electrons","onto_id":"FBbi:00000375"},{"onto_name":"film","onto_id":"FBbi:00000303"}],"DIMENSION":[{"Space":{"Image_size":5582,"Pixel_size":{"unit":"nanometers","value":1},"axis":"X"}},{"Space":{"Image_size":3679,"Pixel_size":{"unit":"nanometers","value":1},"axis":"Y"}}],"NCBIORGANISMALCLASSIFICATION":{"onto_name":"Didinium nasutum","onto_id":"NCBITaxon:5997"},"PREPARATION":[{"onto_name":"glutaraldehyde fixed tissue","onto_id":"FBbi:00000011"},{"onto_name":"osmium tetroxide fixed tissue","onto_id":"FBbi:00000012"},{"onto_name":"tissue in epoxy resin embedment","onto_id":"FBbi:00000018"},{"onto_name":"microtome-sectioned tissue","onto_id":"FBbi:00000029"}],"VISUALIZATIONMETHODS":[{"onto_name":"stain with broad specificity","onto_id":"FBbi:00000415"},{"onto_name":"osmium tetroxide","onto_id":"FBbi:00000571"},{"onto_name":"uranyl salt","onto_id":"FBbi:00000569"},{"onto_name":"lead salt","onto_id":"FBbi:00000570"}],"CELLTYPE":[{"onto_name":"cell by organism","onto_id":"CL:0000004"},{"onto_name":"eukaryotic cell","onto_id":"CL:0000255"},{"free_text":"Eukaryotic Protist"},{"free_text":"Ciliated Protist"}]}},"Citation":{"Title":"Richard Allen (University of Hawaii) (2010) CIL:4662, Didinium nasutum, cell by organism, eukaryotic cell, Eukaryotic Protist, Ciliated Protist.
