Cann (right), from the University of East Anglia, Norwich, England, were studying a bathymetric map and a seismic profiling recording before deciding where to drill and core for Site 411 of Leg 49 of the Deep Sea Drilling Project. Site 411 was located on the East flank of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge just south of the Azores. 1976.
