When cloud-cover satellite pictures were needed by the weather forecaster aboard D/V Glomar Challenger (ship), this new weather antenna was installed on the ship's stern deck. The information was then made available due to weather satellites in orbit and received by the D/V Glomar Challenger (ship) during the Deep Sea Drilling Project. 1978.
