Varney-Redwine deep sea coring instrument, developed at Scripps Institution of Oceanography

Roger Revelle used this instrument to study marine sediments from various localities between Panama and Alaska. This important oceanography instrument was used not only by Scripps Institution of Oceanography but also by the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey and the U.S. Navy.
