Studies in the tonga trench, louisville ridge, and the eltanin fracture zone. the priciple scientific objective will be to collect enough high-resolution bathymetry of the tonga trench to make a comparison of the morphology of this sediment-starved rock-walled trench and the more familiar turbidite-filled trenches typified by the middle america trench.
