Glomar Challenger drilling crew rigs hydraulically operated power sub, center, preparatory to commencinig drilling and coring operations at a deep water drilling site during the first leg of the DSDP. At right is the drawworks and, on opposite side of derrick floor is the specially designed sand line reel used in retrieving the core barrel. Beyojd derrick floor is Global Marine designed automatic drill pipe racher which holds 24,000 feet of 5-inch pipe.
