The Bottom Processing Package (BPP) begins its trip to the sea floor from the D/V Glomar Challenger (ship). Once deployed data was transmitted over a single Electro-Mechanical (EM) coaxial conductor cable to the BPP, and the data received was stored in real-time for up to 45 days. The R/V Melville (ship) can be seen in the background. 1983.
