Pilot whales in the waters off Peru spotted from R/V Argo during the Scripps Institution of Oceanography's Swan Song Expedition (1961). This expedition explored the North Pacific at the equator and Eastern Tropical Pacific on the research ship Argo. The expedition collected large water samples for analysis, studied the Cromwell Current (Pacific Equatorial Undercurrent), and undertook a limited biological program for the Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission.1961.
