FIRST PICTURE OF THE CAPTURE OF SANTANDER BY THE REBELS. -- These are the first pictures of the capture of Santander, important city of northern Spain, by the troops of General Franco, whose rebel forces entered the city after a 12-day offensive characterised by the great speed of the advance. A rising within the city itself had placed Franco supporters in power and brought about the surrender of many thousands of Loyalists. Photo shows rebel soldiers riding on mules past a ruined building as they entered Santander.
