The 100-foot R/V Oconostota, moored at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography Marine Facility in Point Loma, is one in a fleet of ten oceanographic ships belonging to Scripps Institution of Oceanography, University of California, San Diego. Originally a tugboat, R/V Oconostota sometimes tows other vessels but most often accommodates up to 14 scientists and crew for research activities at sea. August 1973.
