Left to right: Scientists Yuri Neprochnov, of the P.P. Shirshov Institute of Oceanology, USSR Academy of Sciences, Moscow, USSR; David Ross, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, Woods Hole, Massachusetts; and Ken J. Hsu, Geologisches Institut der ETH, Zurich, Switzerland, compare the structure of sedimentary core material recovered at Sites 380 and 381 in the Black Sea. Recovery of these cores was made on Leg 42B of the Deep Sea Drilling Project which was managed by Scripps Institution of Oceanography under contract to the National Science Foundation. Neprochnov and Ross were the Co-Chief Scientists on the cruise that began and ended in Istanbul, Turkey and Hsu served as the Sedimentologist on the scientific team. 1975.
