Patient and Physician Financial Awareness Project: A Survey Based Study of Patient and Physician Knowledge of Procedure Costs and Physician Reimbursement Rates

The 'Patient and Physician Financial Awareness Project' was completed by Nicole Herrick and colleagues from March 2015 to October 2017. Nicole completed the IRB application and received project approval in June 2015. Nicole consulted with Dr. Neil Farber, UCSD primary care physician with extensive experience in survey based research, to construct the survey instrument. She administered all 250 surveys and completed all data entry. She consulted with Toni Rush, for assistance with statistical analysis of data. Nicole drafted the manuscript with the help of John Fontanesi, Toni Rush, and Richard Schatz. The manuscript, entitled Public Unawareness of Physician Reimbursement, was published in in Catheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions in October 2017
