Ping: A small electric motor with a small plastic gear on its shaft; two microphone bases

The motorized gear was pressed against the base of the lower piano strings near the [pin, producing vibrations that excited differing harmonics from the string; the microphone bases were placed on the upper piano strings and then rocked rapidly, producing a shimmering whir.
