Scientific members of the Swan Song Expedition (1961) are shown here preparing to launch 50,000 gallon sample, enroute to Hawaii. This expedition explored the North Pacific at the equator and Eastern Tropical Pacific on the research ship Argo. The expedition collected large water samples for analysis, studied the Cromwell Current (Pacific Equatorial Undercurrent), and undertook a limited biological program for the Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission. August 1961.
