Alick Luan Ballot in Vanuatu Pati 1981 Election

The taro and digging stick on the image here was the symbol of the majority political party, Vanuaaku, acknowledging the importance of land and politics. Paper election ballots used photographs as a way of dealing with the illiteracy problem and dialect differences.
