Description

The dataset includes a subset of model output from a global 0.1-deg CORE-II forced POP simulation near the region of the Arabian Sea. The dataset contains fields including monthly sea surface height, wind stress, temperature, salinity and velocity fields averaged over 2005 - 2009 in the Arabian Sea, and daily velocity and all terms from the momentum equation.

Funding

The work was funded by Office of Naval Research grants N00014‐15‐1‐2189 and N00014‐15‐1‐2566. J. L. M. was also supported by DOE Office of Science grant DE‐SC0012778. We would like to acknowledge high‐performance computing support from Yellowstone (ark:/85065/d7wd3xhc) provided by NCAR's Climate Simulation Laboratory, sponsored by the National Science Foundation. Funding for the POP simulation was provided by a DOE BER grant entitled “Ultra High Resolution Global Climate Simulation” via a Los Alamos National Laboratory subcontract (J. L. M.); Caroline Papadopoulos (SIO/UCSD) carried out the 60‐year POP simulation, and Elena Yulaeva (UCSD) performed the repeat POP simulation for years 2005–2009. Some POP analyses were carried out using Rhea in the Oak Ridge Leadership Computing Facility (OLCF) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
