Description

Wantok Niuspepa is the only Tok Pisin language newspaper in Papua New Guinea. Started in 1970, it is published weekly by the Christian-based Word Publishing Company and distributed throughout the country on Thursdays. Wantok contains news and information on health, education, politics, and community projects. Also notable are the letters, cartoons, and advertising found within the newspaper. Wantok is recognized for contributing to the orthography and normalization of Tok Pisin throughout Papua New Guinea.

Issues were digitized from microforms held at the University of California and made freely available with the permission of Word Publishing Company Limited.
