Neha and Melvin J. Voigt Collections Endowment for the UCSD Libraries

Established through the generous gift of Neha Voigt.

See items purchased through this endowment Created in tribute to Melvin J. Voigt, UC San Diego’s inaugural University Librarian, and his transformative legacy, the Neha and Melvin J. Voigt Collections Endowment provides vital support to the UC San Diego Libraries. Voigt, hired by Roger Revelle in 1960, built the campus library system from the ground up—growing its holdings from 45,000 volumes to more than a million and guiding the construction of iconic facilities, including the Central University Library (now Geisel Library). Administered by the university librarian, this endowment strengthens the Libraries by supporting the acquisition and stewardship of essential materials across disciplines.
