Florence Riford Endowment for the Humanities

Established through the generous gift of Florence Seeley Riford.

The Florence Riford Endowment for the Humanities at the UC San Diego Library is a philanthropic fund established through generous gifts by La Jolla benefactor Florence Seeley Riford to support and expand the library’s humanities collections and resources. Mrs. Riford’s donation of more than $1 million—part of her broader giving to UCSD—was used to strengthen the library’s ability to acquire books, materials, and other scholarly resources in the humanities, often in connection with matching grants such as those offered by the National Endowment for the Humanities. Her contributions reflect a long-standing commitment to enriching academic study and preserving knowledge in the humanities at UC San Diego.
