Laptops, phones, or other devices with Wi-Fi capability may access the web from most areas of the Geisel and the Biomedical Library Building. First-time wireless network users may need to download & install the certificate for your device & OS to get encrypted wireless access.
UCSD Users: Connect to the UCSD-PROTECTED network. See campus wireless overview for details. Frequent network users may want to register (one-time) your network card for your computer to automatically recognize the wireless connection.

Eduroam for Traveling UCSD Personnel
- For current UCSD students, faculty, and staff with an Active Directory username and password.
- Secure worldwide federated network access service for international research and education community.
- Allows wireless access at eduroam-enabled institutions. See list of eduroam member institutions.
- Before traveling (while at UCSD): Select eduroam SSID and follow instructions for UCSD-PROTECTED for your operating system, substituting eduroam whenever UCSD-PROTECTED SSID is specified. Make sure your service works while on campus. Thereafter, if you can see the eduroam wireless network when you are visiting another institution, select eduroam. When prompted, enter your Active Directory username and @ucsd.edu (e.g. firstname.lastname@example.org) and your AD password to connect. Test eduroam by entering your AD username and @ucsd.edu (e.g. email@example.com) and your AD password to connect before you leave.
Eduroam for Visitors: Visitors from participating institutions may use the EDUROAM network. Visitors should check with their home institution to learn if it's an eduroam member.

Print from your own wireless laptop, iPad, or compatible smartphone to Imprints printers in the Library (or Price Center) in one of two ways (see printable handout for details):
Online (Web-Based Printing): For mobile users, Macs, and Windows users who don't want to install software.
- Click the Print button in the blue box.
- Provide a username (anything will work).
- Select correct location and printer from list.
- You can print documents stored on your computer (except from Apple iOS devices like iPhone or iPad) or print web pages by providing a “permanent” URL. Note that some sites don't use permanent URLs for every page. Printing from these sources will not work. In those cases, use a library workstation (or Windows users may install the PrintWhere software).
- Make up a password from 5–10 characters long.
- Once you’ve sent your job, you can print it from any Library print release station.
- Smartphone users: Go to imprints-print.ucsd.edu.
Advanced Windows Printing: PrintWhere software lets you add our printers to your computer to allow you to print from any software application. You also get more control over what and how to print, including features such as the ability to include multiple PowerPoint slides per page, etc.
- Go to PrintWhere and download the "PrintWhere Driver" (see bottom of page).
- Double-click the file you downloaded to install the "Choose a Printer" program.
- Run program, search for UCSD, and select printer you want to use (will be installed as your default). Use your printer settings if you don't want it to be the default.
