R/V Elsie underway in San Pedro Harbor, probably engaged in work for William E. Ritter. c1901. The Else was chartered by William E. Ritter for marine biology work at his San Pedro marine laboratory, before Ritter moved his laboratory to San Diego, which ultimately became Scripps Institution of Oceanography.
